Crash and burn!

04 Mar 2019

The Unicorn Bognor Regis Reserves 2-0 Fernhurst Sports First Saturday 2nd of March Rossiter Bareham Trophy Quarter Final.  Crash and Burn!  Fernhurst crashed out of the cup at the quarter final stages, to a Div 5 surprise package.  For the second week in a row Fernhurst made the trip to Bognor.  Not knowing what to expect we were greeted by a rather elderly, out of shape, for want of a better description, pub side!  Fernhurst started the better side and could have gone into the lead, with a chance cleared of the line and a strong penalty claim turned down.  As the game progress Fernhurst were unable to stamp their authority, the Unicorn played their way in.   Fernhurst became more and more frustrated, jittery, and exposed inviting pressure on. Unicorn made the breakthrough 1-0 shot from outside the box. It remained 1-0 at half time, the game finely poised. The second half followed the pattern of the first, little quality on display from either side, windy conditions and another dreadful surface not helping the game. Fernhurst creating very little, came unstuck again from a set play, 2-0 down and no way back.  A very disappointing way to fizzle out of the cup, second best on the day.
